The design of the solid timber house in Telemark, Norway, focused on energy efficiency and sustainability, taking into account the needs of a family of five. The exterior walls are slanted towards the south to make optimum use of the sunlight from the solar panels. The chimney is located centrally in the house. The eat-in kitchen opens onto the conservatory, which connects the interior with the exterior.
The children’s rooms are also located on the first floor with a shared playroom in front. On the upper floor, a panoramic window with mountain views, balcony and afternoon sun opens up in the living room. To achieve comfortable room acoustics, black felt mats have been fitted behind the wood-panelled ceiling in the living room. The bedroom wing is also located on the upper floor and the central hallway is illuminated by coved lighting. The exterior wall cladding is made of pre-treated spruce, which will take on a gray-brown complexion over time.
